Letters by Henry Benbridge written in iron-gall ink on rectangular sheets of handmade paper secured with red sealing wax. The letters range in date from 1767 when Benbridge was in Rome and 1787 when he was in Charleston, South Carolina. Most of the letters are addressed to his half sister Elizabeth "Betsy" Gordon (Mrs. John Saltar). One of the letters is addressed to Benbridge's step-father Thomas Gordon.
