Description Even though the exact details of this piece are unknown, the meaning is clear. A loved one is gone. The weeping willow to the left mimics the woman's tears in both name and form. The ground is speckled with clips of the deceased's hair, giving intense sentimental and personal value to this tiny scene. A generic garden scene was common for late-eighteenth century mourning jewelry, where the garden represents a peaceful repose.
