Description The son of James Reid Pringle, James served as treasurer of St. Michael's Church. The steeple has been a landmark of the Charleston skyline since its original construction in 1751. A set of bells, including one that weighed almost 2,000 pounds, was made in London in 1764. Brisith troops stole the bells as spoils of was as they retreated after the American Revolution and James Pringle was very active in their return.
